Pride For Sale!

(A poem)

Pride for sale!
Pride for sale!
Sparkly, rainbow Pride
for sale!

Purses, pillows, stickers, shoes,
It comes in any guise!
We’ve got non-binary t-shirts,
You want a man or woman’s size?

We can put it on a banner,
And hang it up real high.
Come take your pick of colors,
We’ve got all these flags to fly!

We’ll put it in commercials
For all your eyes to see
Look at how you’re smiling!
Look how you’re so happy!

Pride for sale!
Pride for sale!
Sparkly, rainbow Pride
for sale!

Since when was Pride a protest?
No need for riots here.
We’ve swapped these bricks for boxes
(Just don’t call yourself a Queer).

It’s time for you to party
Don’t it feel so good to win?
Don’t mind the people jeering
(Though they still think it’s a sin).

Now Pride’s in the stadium.
Please, step up to the plate!
A toast to all your allies
For choosing not to hate.

What’s that?

You don’t care for beer?

I think I hear the bigots coming

We’re sorry—we’re not here!
